David Muir is a well-known American journalist who is an anchor of “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir.”

His career started at WTVH-TV in Syracuse. Later, in 2000, he moved to WCVB-TV in Boston. In 2003, Muir joined ABC as an overnight anchor for “ABC’s World News Now.”

WTVH Television
Between 1994 and 2000, David Muir had a job as both an anchor and reporter at WTVH-TV in Syracuse, New York.
He covered some important news including the 1995 assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in places like Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and the Gaza Strip.
His reporting was really good and he won several awards, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave him a big award. He also got awards from the Associated Press for his excellent reporting and interviews on TV.
In his hometown of Syracuse, he won an award from the Syracuse Press Club for being part of the “Best Local Newscast.”
WCVB Television
From the year 2000-2003, Muir worked as an anchor and reporter for WCVB TV in Boston. There he won the Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting and the National Headliner Award where he reported about hijackers involved in the 2001, September 11 attack.
ABC NEWS
In August 2003, David Muir started working on ABC News as an anchor of a late-night show “World News Now.” He also worked for another morning show called “World News This Morning”.
In September 2005, when Hurricane Katrina hit the New Orleans Superdome, David Muir was also there. Instead of leaving, he chose to stay in New Orleans to report on the emergency and disaster.
Muir’s reports brought attention to the worsening situation at places like the Convention Center and Charity Hospital. In one video coverage, it was seen that he and his photographer had to walk through water that was chest-deep to reach patients who were trapped inside the hospital.
Later, in 2007, June he co-hosted a news program called “Primetime”. Then in 2012, he hosted another show “The Weeknd News Broadcast” which was later renamed “World News With David Muir”.
In January 2013, Muir reported from Iran where he covered the nuclear talks that were going on there. He also talked about the severe food shortage in Mogadishu, Somalia.
While he was in Somalia, he and his team faced a dangerous situation when they all came under fire while reporting. Although he was at higher risk he still covered the news which made him earn the Edward R. Murrow Award.
On the 27th of June, 2014 the ABC News said that it will be making David Muir as main person in charge and the editor of the ABC World News. He joined this job on September 1, 2014.
He beat the record of NBC “Nightly News” and attracted a lot of viewers while hosting “World News Tonight With David Muir” in 2015.
In March 2016 he reported about the Heroin Crisis in America and was given Cine Golden Eagle Award.
In 2021, Muir became the lead anchor of the breaking news. 2023, and he’s still anchoring World News Tonight and 20/20.
