Exam Details

To ensure that you have enough time to prepare for your exam, we are offering a set of temporary certifications valid for six months from the publication date. The certification is called SAFe® 5.1 Product Owner Product Manager Certification and it consists of three separate virtual exams

Exam Format

The exam is a 75-minute, 100-question multiple-choice test covering Scrum, Agile practices, and topics from SAFe, process management, product management, and project management. The exam will consist of 75 questions with a passing score of 63%.

A team exercise at the end of each chapter may be used as practice for part of a question on the final exam if you have time remaining or for a full credit for up to 4 questions.

Passing Marks

The SAFe Program Level 1 exam consists of two distinct parts. You must pass both parts to become certified as a Program Level 1 Associate, and progress to higher levels of certification. For each part, you will be given 90 minutes to complete a series of essay questions that are designed to test your knowledge on specific topics within SAFe POPM certification program management.

There is no time limit for answering individual questions, but you must answer all questions within 90 minutes overall. In addition, there is no penalty for guessing or skipping any question—so if you don’t know an answer, feel free to skip it and move on!

However, we recommend that you do not skip any question until you have at least attempted it; answering every question will give you more practice with each topic area covered by the exam and increase your chances of passing on your first attempt!

POPM Training Exam Goal

The POPM Training goal of SAFe’s certification for a product owner or product manager is to demonstrate that a candidate has demonstrated their knowledge and expertise in what it takes to fulfill those roles successfully within an agile organization; in particular, that he or she can effectively coordinate and manage cross-functional teams that create business value through new or improved products and services.

The exam is based on roles as defined by Scaled Agile framework (SAFe) V5.1.0, with additional SAFe-specific terminology introduced for version 5 (V5). It also covers practical issues around designing, leading, defining, and implementing value streams across multiple teams which build products and services using lean-agile principles to deliver on customer needs faster than competitors.

Study Guides and Tools

Preparing for a certification exam is a process of ensuring that you’re ready for any situations that might arise on test day. That’s why we recommend studying with tools designed by those who have created and graded exams before.

Our study guides are designed by our very own subject matter experts, who know both what they’re looking for in candidates, as well as how to help them prepare. Study guides include practice exams tailored to specific functions, as well as key concepts, and review questions so you can ensure there is no gap in your knowledge.

Conclusion

A certification is an assurance that you have certain skills and knowledge, which can help reduce risks in your business operations by improving communication and building a collaborative environment with your team, customers, and partners. It allows you to communicate a positive image of yourself while demonstrating high-quality performance.
